Did You Know:
7 strawberries (80g) provides your recommended daily amount of vitamin C.
In addition to vitamin C, strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin K and manganese, as well as folic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.
As well as the many nutrients strawberries contain, they are also a lower carb fruit. At only 8g carbs per 100grams, if you are living the LCHF lifestyle they can fit in with your menu plans quite well.
Strawberries contain significant levels of phytonutrients and antioxidants which help to fight free radicals (which can damage cells and are thought to contribute to the formation of many kinds of cancer) These antioxidant properties are believed to be linked to what makes the strawberry bright red.
Historic Information:
Strawberries were cultivated by the Romans as early as 200 BC. In medieval times strawberries were regarded as an aphrodisiac and soup, made of strawberries, borage and soured cream was traditionally served to newly-weds at their wedding breakfast.
In the sixteenth century strawberries were sold in cone-shaped straw baskets thus becoming one of the earliest packaged foods.
Strawberries were used medicinally to help with digestive ailments, discoloured teeth and skin irritations.

Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits and they will soon be in season here. When I was in junior high and high school I worked on a Strawberry farm!
...local strawberries will be ready in a couple of weeks.
OMG. We LOOOOOVE strawberry season. Yum.
We often have strawberries and cream for dessert when we want something sweet. And I can't wait for strawberry season later this month. Happy new week Jan.
This does look delicious! I can imagine this with blueberries as well.
Yummy
DELICIOUS!
Simple and divine!
Delighted to know they are so good for you because I love them.
Oh, I didn't know all these good things that come from strawberries!!
Thank you very much!!
What a delicious bargain and so fascinating to learn about strawberries’ rich history and impressive health benefits; they really are a sweet treat with a powerful nutritional punch
Still love strawberries, used to eat them everyday for sweets but stopped about 2 years ago, eat a few occasionally.
They are delicious - and go very well indeed with cream.
Gosto muito de morangos ,com ou sem creme! Lindo dia! beijos, chica
The strawberries have been really bountiful this year - luscious, deep red and delicious.
I love to add strawberries to my yogurt.
They are delicious. Take care, have a great day!
I do love strawberries and grow lots of them in our garden. It seems to be a really good for them this year.
Strawberries are wonderful. We have some most days, particularly with salad. We have a lot growing in the garden - I hope they ripen!
That's really delicious! In June it's easy to buy strawberry at supermarket or local market/farmers.
I'm mad about strawberries and eat them with a big dollop of thick Greek yoghurt, sometimes with a walnut topping and a small amount of honey, absolutely yum
So good. 😊

Strawberries and cream always take me back to warm, carefree afternoons they really are one of life’s simple joys. I know they had so many health benefits that makes them even better. I truly enjoyed reading this. www.melodyjacob.com
I bought strawberries yesterday. Good for me but not for Mr. M. with his kidney. He does get about 1/2 cup to enjoy though.
Oh my, you are going to think I don't eat anything, esp anything good for me...I don't like strawberries, not unless they are dipped in choc! lol....But I do eat oranges, bananas, blueberries, grapes, apples and it is past time to check out a sweet watermelon.
I love strawberries! When I worked at the food bank, we'd sort through the food that came in and the rule with strawberries was that if they looked like they'd last a few days, they'd be packaged and go into the food pantry. If they needed to be eaten within a day, they#d be 'iffys' and we could take some home and the rest would be put in the soup kitchen for diners to take. If they were no good, they went into the pig bucket. One day, 5 or 6 of us stood there and did nothing but sort strawberries for an entire 3 hour shift!
I love strawberries, but eat them with milk because we never buy cream. They are good in smoothies, too.
I like them on their own! Not so keen on the vegan creams. Strawberries are so tasty and so healthy and so low in calories too!
Our strawberries are just now beginning to ripen. My husband pointed them out to me this morning when I was busy in the back garden. Strawberries with cream...oh my goodness! I can hardly wait!
We had the Cauliflower Chicken Alfredo for dinner last night and it was excellent! Hubby finished it up at lunch today. :)
I've changed a few settings at my blog when it comes to comments. I hope that it hasn't kept you from being able to comment. Dianna
I love local strawberries and the season is so short! Wonderful!
I'll take some strawberries, but you can keep the cream. Xx
Have we had Wimbledon already? I must have missed it.
God bless.
Oh I do love strawberries. I just ate a few of them this afternoon!!
