1. Cats have over 100 different vocal sounds, but dogs only have about 10.
Cats use:-
Purrs (which can signal contentment or distress)
Meows (with countless variations for different requests)
Chirps and trills (often used as greetings)
Hisses and growls (warning sounds)
Yowls and caterwauls (typically during mating or territorial disputes)
Chattering (that distinctive sound when watching birds)
Dogs:-
Research has shown that dog vocalizations fall into four main categories: barks, growls, howls, and whines. Within barking alone, studies have identified 2 to 12 subunits depending on the breed and context, but this is still modest compared to the feline vocal range.

It may sound like a load of quackers but according to research ducks have regional accents.
For instance, "Cockney" ducks from London make a rougher sound, not unlike their human counterparts, so their fellow quackers can hear them above the city's hubbub.

These are fascinating facts, dear Jan! I know quite a bit about cats but certainly not everything! Although I knew they had more vocal sounds than dogs, I didn't realize how many! Thank you so much for sharing these, what fun!

Some interesting facts!
145,000 eggs in one omelette? I hope that was used to feed homeless people after the measuring and weighing. If not then it was a huge waste of eggs and butter. I have never understood the need to make the biggest of anything edible just because you can.
Now that would be a massively large omelet and the eggs, amazing.

I knew about the apples. Anyone who has ever bobbed for apples know they float, which makes them difficult to grab onto. I know my cats make different sounds depending on whether they are hungry, thirsty, or just want my attention. I had NO idea they had such a range of sounds.
That must have been one HUGE omelette.

It was such a LARGE omelette!
It is my understanding that the eggs used were donated by the company Uno Ovo which is the largest egg producing company of Portugal. This omelette was made on the occasion of the festival called Immigrant Festival and then enjoyed by many!

These are really fun! I knew cats could make more sounds than dogs, but dogs also often have more facial expressions and use body language to tell you what they want, and they definitely can do that. :) Well, I suppose hungry cats let you know too. :) And I love that ducks have regional accents. What fun facts. We have a little Cockapoo that does yodeling. We have never heard anything like it and she vocalizes like she wants to talk to us and it sounds like a purring yodel. It's even funnier when she has a ball in her mouth and wants to me to play ball with her.

Very interesting and good to know especially about cats. I can never figure them out. I have a grandcat that I love but fear a little too. She nipped me once for touching her in the wrong place after5 minutes of enjoying and purring.
