The idea for this post came from a comment received from Iris on this post here which featured recipes for slow cookers and also those who do not have a slow cooker. In part of her comment she said "My Mum had a "Schnellkochtopf", you call it pressure cooker." It made me think of my mum as she also used to use a pressure cooker. I just use a conventional oven, hob and microwave!
In 2026 there are many "modern kitchen appliances like slow cookers, pressure cookers, and air fryers which can now be combined into versatile multi-cookers, offering speed, convenience, and healthier cooking options.
Individual Appliance Overview
Slow Cookers: These appliances cook food at low temperatures over extended periods, making them ideal for tenderizing meats, developing deep flavors, and preparing soups or stews. They are energy-efficient and allow for hands-off cooking, but meals take several hours to complete.
Pressure Cookers: Using high-pressure steam, pressure cookers drastically reduce cooking times while retaining nutrients and moisture. They are perfect for beans, grains, and tougher cuts of meat, offering up to 70% faster cooking compared to traditional slow cooking methods.
Air Fryers: Air fryers circulate hot air rapidly to cook food, producing a crispy texture similar to deep frying but with significantly less oil. They are excellent for healthier versions of fried foods, roasting vegetables, and reheating leftovers quickly.
Combo Appliances
Modern multi-cookers integrate these functions into a single device, often including additional features like sautéing, steaming, baking, dehydrating, and sous vide.
Ninja Foodi 11-in-1 FD302: Features TenderCrisp technology for juicy interiors and crispy exteriors, 6.5-quart pot, 4.6-quart air fryer basket, and 11 programmable functions including sous vide, bake, and dehydrate.
COMFEE’ 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker: Offers slow cooking, pressure cooking, rice cooking, steaming, and specialized functions like yogurt and cake making, with safety features and programmable presets.
Benefits of Multi-Cookers
Considerations When Choosing a Combo

For home cooks seeking efficiency, versatility, and healthier cooking options, multi-cookers that combine slow cooking, pressure cooking, and air frying are highly recommended. I love this post. Just cook. My new, a few months old. Is a crispinator. The perfect name. Have a nice day today.
My mom had the old fashioned pressure cooker and used it quite often. I have the new kind and I do use it. I use my slow cooker all the time and also use the air fryer quite often.
I remember my mothers pressure cooker. I had one when we first got married, don't have one now though. I use my slow cooker and air fryer quite often and like them both.
Great information on these appliances, Jan! My favourite is the slow cooker/crockpot.
The problem, of course, is storage!
I love my slow cooker. Fix it and forget it (until dinner time).
We only have an old slow cooker! Are we modern?
Gracias por los consejos. Te mando un beso.
